Sponsorships

The Ontario Headwaters Institute -- a provincial corporation with federal charitable status and which focuses on research, education, and best practices to protect and preserve our headwaters -- is seeking sponsors to help us generate maps of headwaters throughout the province.

Data for the maps is provided at no charge through Ontario’s Land Information Office. Preliminary mapping for the first 17 watersheds was done by students at Sir Sanford Fleming College, with whom we hope to continue working while also involving other educational institutions. Overall costs would be very high if the OHI did not receive this in-kind support from these generous partners.

Still, the OHI experiences costs for overall mapping project management,
team coordination, final cartography for both the GIS and Google maps,
efforts to load and manage the website, and of course
outreach associated with the mapping.

To defray these expenses, we offer sponsorships of the maps, as can be seen on the map of the Credit.

Currently, we are seeking sponsors for the maps of the other watersheds on the western half of the Oak Ridges Moraine, after which we hope to address the eastern half of the Moraine, the Dundalk Plateau, the Algonquin Dome, and other areas of the province.
